NBA’s top 10 Teams 2012-13
The Miami Heats are the Kings of the NBA this season, which team can take away their crown and win it all in the 2013 season. We rank NBA’s top ten team with opinions of the A-List Team:
#1 – Miami Heat
With LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh winning their first title as the Heats’ version of the big three super team, the moment NBA Playoffs was over all other teams went on a spending spree trying to figure out how to dethrone the King – LeBron and his band of brothers – The Heats.
The whole coup d’etat project might be just a little beat more difficult than most teams would have figured. The Heat arguably the best overall team in the league and the leagues reigning champions just added the leagues best pure shooter in Ray Allen and also added Rashard Lewis., it’s a tale of the rich getting richer.
So, with LBJ being virtually unstoppable and playing alongside a healthy Wade and Bosh, it seems every other team in the league might just be playing for second place.
Then again, that’s why we play the games. So, which other team can beat the Heat in a seven game series? – Tuviere -
Here are the contenders to dethrone the Miami Heat:
#2 Oklahoma City Thunder
The Thunder broke up their version of the big three and sent James Harden to the Houston Rockets, but the core of the team: Kevin Durant, Russell Westbrook, Serge Ibaka and Kendrick Perkins are still intact and a supporting cast in Thabo Sefolosha and Kevin Martin, the OKC Thunder might be as formidable as ever.
Though this team was swept in the finals by the Heat, they gained much needed experience and with the agony of defeat comes hunger. This team is built on a solid foundation around a superstar in Kevin Durant that might just end up with this seasons MVP award. Durant and the OKC Thunder are only getting better and giving that they made it all the way to the Finals last season that might just be the scariest thought for every other team out there.
I for one can’t wait till we get a Kevin Durant – LeBron NBA Finals 2.0, will LeBron dominate Durant again or will Durant show us all he belongs on the same court with the KING LBJ. Finals, can’t wait!!! – Tony Holt -
#3 San Antonio Spurs
The Spurs core of Tim Duncan, Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker are back healthy and the infusion of a mixture of veteran presence like Boris Diaw and Stephen Jackson and impressive young players like Kawhi Leonard and Dejuan Blair, the San Antonio Spurs might be the second best team in the NBA.
But they are ranked third – because, though this might be the most playoff ready team in the league with two good players at every position and a championship experience second to none in the league having won four NBA titles the last 12 years, the Spurs are still a very old bunch and the injury bug seems to bite hard on them more than any other team in the league. But if they able to stay healthy, they can be the best team in the league this season.
The Spurs also have something the Heats wish they could possess two players in Manu Ginibili and Stephen Jackson, fierce competitors that will do anything to win.
With the clock about to run out on the career of the Spurs big three (Tim Duncan, Ginobili and Tony Parker), this might just be their best season to break through and win it all. So i guess the real question now is, can Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili lead this team past Kevin Durant and the OKC Thunder? Better still, can they hang with LeBron James and the Miami Heat in a seven game series in the NBA Finals? – Tony Holt -
#4 Los Angeles Lakers
No other team in the NBA made more big moves this off-season than the LA Lakers. They sent grumpy old man – Andrew Bynum to Philly and brought in Mr. AARP Steve Nash, Mr. Efficiency Antawn Jamison and Superman / Iron Man Dwight Howard. With a roster like this the Lakers are making a strong case for the west title.
There are too many questions yet to be answered by the Lakers team to have them ranked anywhere higher than number four. They added 39 year old Nash who is still arguably the best pure point guard in the league, but a liability on defense and due to back issues will be unable to play heavy minutes.
Then you have the coaching issues with Mike Brown who over the years has proven to be very bad at running any type of offense successful (and that’s me putting it lightly). All his years in Cleveland coaching arguably the best talent any of us has ever seen on a basketball court, his complete offensive game plan was; give the ball to LeBron James and the rest of you – fall in line.
How is Mike Brown going to handle a team with multiple scoring options in Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol, Steve Nash and Dwight Howard? – Tuviere -
#5 Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics who set the trend with their own version of the big three five seasons ago also lost one third of the big trio – as Ray Allen decided to sign with the Miami Heat for half the cash the Boston Celtics were offering and now another chapter has been added to the Miami – Boston rivalry. With the lost of Ray the Celtics went out and added some very impressive pieces in Leandro Barbosa and Jason Terry to go with veterans Brandon Bass and Jeff Green. With the above addition to the core of the team in Kevin Garnet, Paul Pierce and Rajon Rondo, the Celtics remains a formidable team in the east and should give the Miami Heat all they can handle this season.
At the end of the day the Boston Celtics with the talent they have assembled will have to run through LeBron James and the Hot Hot Miami Heat if they plan to make it to another NBA Finals. – Hansen Booth -
#6 Memphis Grizzlies
The Grizzlies a team led by Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol and Rudy Gay is probably the best team in the league no ones talks about. To be fair, these guys can’t seem to stay healthy. But with a healthy Zach Randolph and Rudy Gay playing alongside Marc Gasol this season, this team has the potential to go all the way. – Eagles4Life -
#7 Los Angelis Clippers
The Clippers led by the leagues best point guard duo in Chris Paul and Mr. Big Shot – Chauncey Billups are a team ready to rule the west with a roster that includes playoff tested and dependable veterans in Caron Butler, Grant Hill and Lamar Odom. And they intend to entertain on their way to the crown with stars like Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan. For now the Staples Center is known as the home of Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers, but if the Clippers can bring it all together with the talent they have on their roster, the Staples Center might just be renamed as the home of Blake Griffin, Chris Paul and the Los Angeles Clippers. – Tony Holt -
#8 Denver Nuggets
Led by newly acquired Andre Iguodala and Denver Veteran Ty Lawson, the Nuggets can never be counted out of the hunt and with rejuvenated JaVale McGee who single handed disgraced the Lakers two all-stars in Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum in last season’s playoff series, the Nuggets might be a tough out in the west. – Tony Holt -
The Nets led by Joe Johnson, Daron Williams and Brook Lopez might not really be a contender this season, but we have been surprised before. – Eagles4Life -
#10 New York Knicks
The Knicks led by Carmelo Anthony and Amare Stoudemire and hopefully sometime this season these two will be on the court at the same time. Until then…
The Knicks are a team with so much potential and no chemistry, if they can find that elusive chemistry… But can they be good enough to challenge LeBron James and the formidable Miami Heat in the east? – Eagles4Life -
The bottom line, As a Lakers fan its a shame ill never get to see the much anticipated fantasy LeBron James vs Kobe Bryant NBA Finals. Well for now we may just have to make do with another Kevin Durant – LeBron James NBA Finals as these two guys seem to be on another collision course – with the Heat being the best team in the NBA and the Thunder marginally better than the Spurs. So when it’s all said and done – LeBron James and the Miami Heat might just repeat as NBA Champions in June.
